“Government’s first duty is to protect the people, not run their lives.” – Ronald Reagan

Michael Lee Meredith was raised on a small beef cattle farm in Edmonson County. He graduated from Edmonson County High School, earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from Western Kentucky University, and began working at the Bank of Edmonson County at just 16 years of age.

Today, Michael Meredith represents the 19th House District in the Kentucky General Assembly. He has run for public office eight times, at the state and local level, and won eight times. A true workhorse in Frankfort, Representative Meredith has consistently maintained a razor-sharp focus on common-sense, conservative principles.

During his time in Frankfort, Representative Meredith has worked to remove job-killing regulations, supported legislation to lower taxes that hamper growth, and continues to be a strong voice for our Veterans and first responders. Currently, Representative Meredith chairs the House Banking and Insurance Committee, which he was reappointed to chair by his peers. He is also co-chair of the Interim Joint Committee on Banking and Insurance.

Meredith’s advocacy for the 19th District is evident through his work to:

  • Promote Fiscal Responsibility,
  • Support Small Businesses,
  • Prioritize Infrastructure Investment, and
  • Champion Issues for Veterans and First Responders.

Representative Meredith has earned recognition and endorsements from countless groups, including the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce and the National Rifle Association. Last year, Meredith was honored as the Policymaker of the Year by the 2023 American Gambling Awards, in recognition of his outstanding leadership in legalizing sports wagering in Kentucky.

Beyond his legislative duties, Michael Meredith remains engaged in local community organizations, including the Edmonson County Lions Club and the Edmonson County Leadership Alumni.

Michael Meredith and his wife Jamie reside on her 5th-generation family farm in Oakland with their two daughters, Emorie and Darby. As active members of a farm family and their community, Michael and Jamie make every effort to impart the values of agriculture and community involvement to their children. Throughout the years, Michael Meredith continues to stand firm in his dedication to making Kentucky a thriving, safe, and welcoming place for all residents.
